A graduate of Massillon Perry High School, Mr. Smith has been the diector of bands at Huron High School since 2002. After student teaching with the North Royalton Bands, Ryan graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Akron in 1999. Beginning in 2000, Mr. Smith served as the graduate assistant with both the Music Education and Band Departments at The University of Akron, earning his Master's Degree in 2002. While at Akron, he was responsible for the direction of the University Band, teaching undergraduate Methods Courses in saxophone & clarinet, and assisting with The University of Akron Marching Band. Currently, Ryan continues to serve on the part time faculty at The University of Akron
Under his leadership, the bands at Huron have performed in the Ohio Music Education Association's District and State contests, The University of Akron, The University of Toledo, Disney World, and various community events. He currently directs the Concert Band, Tiger Marching Band, and Jazz Ensemble.
Mr. Smith maintains an active spring and summer performance schedule, having performed with the Akron Symphony, Canton Symphony, Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Ray Charles, 10000 Maniacs, and Ernie Krivda's "Fat Tuesday Big Band".
Ryan maintains active membership in the Ohio Music Education Association and Music Educator's National Conference.
Christina Scherley

Mrs. Scherley has been the assistant director of bands at Huron High School and director of bands at McCormick Middle School since 2001. Christina graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University, after student teaching at Brian Local Schools in 2000. She currently holds a Bachelor of Music with a minor in English. Mrs. Scherley attended Troy High School, located near Dayton, Ohio.
Under her direction, the McCormick Bands have participated in the Ohio Music Education Association's Large Group contest, District 2 Honor Band, and Solo & Ensemble contest. In addition, the 7th Grade Band is a regular participant with Music In The Parks.
Aside from her work with the Huron Bands, Mrs. Scherley enjoys spending time with her son and husband. During the summer months, she plays flute in the pit orchestra for the Huron Playhouse.
Christina maintains active membership in the Ohio Music Education Association and Music Educator's National Conference.
Don Flugga

Don Flugga, a native of Sandusky, Ohio and a graduate of Perkins High School, is currently studying Music Education with a minor in Percussion Performance at The University of Toledo. Mr. Flugga has experience as a percussion instructor at all grade levels, including Percussion Ensembles and Drum Lines. Don's students have received superior ratings in Marching Band, Concert Band, and Solo & Ensemble competitions.
Mr. Flugga has been a member of two Drum and Bugle Corps, performing both in the battery and front line ensembles. In addition, Don has marched with one of the world's top indoor drum lines.
Don is active as a composer, having written various percussion works that have won first place in several competitions. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, OMEA, and is a spokesman for All Star Percussion.
Samantha Shutts

A native of Zanesville Ohio, Samantha Shutts is a proud alumnus of West Muskingum High School. There, she participated in the Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands, as a member of the color guard, and as the prinicpal french horn player. Throughout high school she held leadership positions in both the band and choir, as well as with her schools mentoring and tutorial programs.
A three year veteran of the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band, Ms. Shutts has 6 years performing experience with color guards. Also active in dance, theatre, and vocal activites, she has been an active performer since childhood.
Samantha is currently a student at Bowling Green State University, where she is beginning her fourth year of studies in English. After graduation, she hopes to attend law school, and one day, become a criminal prosecutor.
